When it comes to big events and celebrations in North Dakota, there are many functions and occurances that triumph! Many gatherings here are very focused on the old fashioned culture of the original peoples who moved here. This phenomenon can be witnessed at the Norsk Hostfest that is held annually in early October in East Minot. Another example of this can be see at the Fort Union Trading Post Rendezvous, usually mid June in Fort Union. Other popular events include the Red River Valley Fair in West Fargo that occurs in mid July, and the State Fair, held in Minot, usually late July. There is the Sports RV and boat show held in Minot in March, The Grand Cities Art Festival in Grand Forks, held annually in early June, the Mandan Rodeos Celebration in Mandan in mid July, leading up to the NDRA Championship Rodeo Finals that occur in early September in Watford City. Other interesting happenings going on include the United Tribes International Powwow held in Bismark, in early September, as well as the Big Iron Farm Show in mid Septemeber in West Fargo. The KMOT Ag Expo is held in late January in Minot, and the exciting Motor Magic, is also in Minot, but during late August. The Fargo Marathon occurs in Fargo during the middle of May. Do not forget about the ever popular wonder of the Medora Musical, held nearly nightly from May through September in the charming and distinguished town of Medora.
